I am a big fan of adoption as an option -- but ONLY when the woman is FULLY informed and makes the decision of her own free will. If that's you, this book is a must-read and a gift.

I have not personally walked through adoption, and I don’t pretend to understand the depth of emotion that the parents, adoptive parents, or adoptees experience. But Courageous Considerations opened my eyes in a way I didn’t expect. This book is not just for people already in the adoption process, it’s for anyone who wants to understand what thoughtful, ethical, child centered adoption truly should look like. The journaling prompts and reflective questions are powerful, even for someone outside the adoption triad. They push you to slow down, think deeply, and consider perspectives you may never have thought about before. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t tell you what to think, it helps you understand why these conversations matter. Even as someone who hasn’t lived this experience, I walked away with a deeper understanding and a greater appreciation for the courage adoption requires. If you are considering adoption, supporting someone who is, or simply want to understand the realities behind it, this book is an invaluable place to start. Thoughtful, grounding, and truly eye opening.

This book is the guide to those that are considering placing their child for adoption, but I also recommend this book to those that are adopting a child as well. Sydney Curtin takes her own personal experience, hindsight, and creates an atmosphere that promotes the most healthy and well-rounded experience for ALL PARTIES INVOLVED. As someone who helped a friend go through this journey at just 19 years old, I found myself being struck by how profound and deep the thought provoking questions were. Sydney invites the reader to explore all aspects of merging 2 families. Her workbook is essential at giving that safe space for someone to read, respond, and reflect as they go through this incredibly difficult and life changing process. So I highly recommend buying the workbook as well. They work hand in hand. This material is something that this world needed a very, very long time ago. I'm so grateful that it is here now, and I'm able to give this resource to someone that so desperately needs it.

I have personally talked to this author and got a lot of information on how to go through the channels of adoption. Reading her book has helped me find the right family and helped me ask the right questions so I could come to peace with my decision.
